Even though the LEC Summer Split is ongoing, Riot Games pushes for the ‘Head-to-Head Game Scoreâ€?tiebreaker for the group stage because it was mistakenly removed, according to LEC Commissioner Artem Bykov. 

Under the updated Section 7.5.13 of the rulebook, ties will now be decided in the following order:

• Head-to-Head Game Score
• Winter and Spring combined placements
• Spring placement
• Strength of Victory
• Head-to-Head Victory Time
• Overall Victory Time
• Coinflip.

There’s an exception for teams tied at 5th place: after applying the above criteria, if there is still a tie between two teams, they will play a tiebreaker match. The loser would be eliminated from playoff contention.

While the change doesn’t affect the current standings, fans still criticised the LEC for updating rules mid-tournament, with some even saying that ‘it gives a crappy and careless image of how the LEC is being handled right now.�/p>

The LEC Summer Split continues into its third week, with matches scheduled for Saturday through Monday.

Riot Games will soon allow you to move your champion in League of Legends (LoL) using WASD keys instead of only point-and-click. This is the first major control change in 16 years, aiming to make the game easier for new and returning players who are used to standard PC controls. The classic mouse controls will remain available, and Riot promises both options will be balanced for all roles and skill levels.

The WASD system will first appear on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) in the next few patches. It will stay in beta while Riot fixes bugs, tests balance, and gathers feedback from casual, high-rank, and pro players. Ranked matches will only get the feature once both systems are equally viable.

Riot is also updating keybinding options, adding a dynamic locked camera, and introducing last-hit indicators in non-ranked games to help players learn. The goal is to make the game more accessible without changing what makes LoL unique.

Riot Games and Tencent have decided to make a huge push for VALORANT Mobile with a $200 million investment in support of mobile esports in the region. The companies revealed the plan during the 2025 ChinaJoy Gaming Festival, just days before the game’s official launch in China on Tuesday, August 19.

Riot eyes to use the funds to build a full esports ecosystem for the game. This includes competitive leagues, tournaments, and esports teams for said game over the next three years. Riot also shared that the goal is to make VALORANT Mobile on par with PC-level competition.

The game has already built massive hype, with over 60 million pre-registrations ahead of its release in China. At launch, users get to access 18 agents, seven maps, and 10 game modes. Riot also confirmed the addition of strong anti-cheat systems to ensure fair play.

VALORANT Mobile’s release marks one of Riot’s biggest moves in the mobile gaming market.

Riot Games is facing criticism after fans claimed the company used AI to make a celebratory video for Wild Rift's 3rd year in China. The video was first posted on Weibo and later shared on Reddit, but it was removed after getting heavy backlash from viewers inside and outside of China.

Viewers noticed strange mistakes in the animation. Characters like Jinx, Yasuo, and Seraphine looked off. Yasuo had a different hairstyle, Aurora’s hair changed length, and Jinx was seen holding the wrong weapon. Seraphine, who normally attacks from a distance, was shown kicking enemies up close. 

Fans believed the video, and even the song, were made using AI. Some called the animation weird and said Riot should not rely on AI, especially with their budget and history of strong visuals. They were upset that the company, known for hiring skilled artists, may have replaced human work with AI.

This isn’t the first time Riot has faced similar claims. In the past, another video was also believed to be AI-made. Riot has not released an official response.

Riot Games will bring new in-game content to Wild Rift during the 2025 League of Legends (LoL) World Championship, which will take place in China. You can expect rewards and content that honour massive moments and key players in League esports.

The Wild Rift team said they wanted to do 'something extra special' for fans and players. They have been inspired by iconic players like Lee 'Faker' Sang-hyeok, Heo 'ShowMaker' Su, Jian 'Uzi' Zihao, and Kim 'Deft' Hyuk-kyu, and have enjoyed the 2025 season so far. Full details about the in-game content will be shared later this fall.

This is not the first time Wild Rift has worked with LoL PC. Back in April, Faker helped new players learn Ryze through a special event in the mobile game.

Since its launch in 2020, Wild Rift has changed its esports focus. After first trying to build a global scene, the game now puts more effort into the Asian market. China’s Wild Rift Super League leads the way in pro play.

In 2025, Wild Rift will hold 18 regional events through its Wild Rounds programme in places like Brazil, Korea, and the Philippines. In Europe, Riot partners with The Purge Tournament to run the Wild Circuit series.

Riot Games is changing Teamfight Tactics esports with the TFT Pro Circuit, launching with Set 15: K.O. Coliseum this August. The Pro Circuit will have three major events, starting on August 29, 2025. This new format is set to make the game more exciting for both players and fans. 

The first event will feature 32 players from four regions. Out of the 32 players, 28 will earn their spots through their play in Cyber City, while Riot will invite four players based on past success in TFT esports. Plus, Riot has announced the TFT Open in Paris, where 768 players will compete in a huge live tournament. Michael Sherman, TFT Esports Director, says this is ‘the most transformative moment in competitive TFT history� After a strong finish at the Tactician’s Crown, TFT is ready for its next big step.

Riot Games has announced a new League of Legends tournament for women in the EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa). The ’Game Changers�event will start this summer with an inaugural tournament called LGC Rising, and end with a live final in October at Paris Games Week.

Riot said they want to bring the same positive impact of Game Changers in VALORANT to League of Legends. ‘This isn’t just a one-off tournament,�the company noted. ‘It’s the beginning of a new path.�/p>

The format is inspired by Riot’s successful VALORANT Game Changers, which helped grow women’s esports. Riot hopes to bring in well-known names like G2 Hel, SK Gaming Avarosa, and Vitality Rising Bees. Newer teams from local leagues can also take part.

Many in the community see this as a key moment for League of Legends. With more support and structure, this new league could make the game more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Players competing in VALORANT’s V25A3 Premier playoffs can now earn exclusive new rewards. The winners will receive a special player card effect to showcase their success. To earn it, you must play at least two weekly matches or one playoff match.

You’ll get this reward when V25A4 starts. Stay on your team until the playoffs end. Riot will also give out a gun buddy and a title to eligible players within 24 hours after playoffs finish.

Premier allows regular players to form teams and compete for a chance to qualify for the Challengers League. It’s a path to pro play for anyone who wants to compete seriously.

Riot has also made some updates in patch 10.11. Icebox is now disabled from Deathmatch and Escalation due to issues. A Finisher Cam is added to help clear visual clutter during skinline finishers.

A new map will be shown during the Masters Toronto Grand Final in a showmatch with streamers Tarik ‘tarik�Celik and Jeremy ‘Disguised Toast�Wang. This map will be in the competitive queue on day one and give players an RR bonus.

Leaks hint at a new agent, but Riot has not confirmed it. In 2025, major updates, including Unreal Engine 5 and a replay system, are planned.

Uzi’s peak year ended with a win at the LPL summer finals. RNG faced Invictus Gaming and won a hard-fought 3� series. The last game came down to a near-loss, but Uzi helped RNG hold on. Invictus would later win Worlds, making RNG’s win even bigger in hindsight. Uzi proved again that he was a steady force in late-game fights.

Riot Games is looking into serious cheating claims in the Valorant North America Challengers league. Sean Gares, an esports manager, posted a video accusing players and groups of cheating and throwing matches for money.

Gares named a user called ‘Brayâ€?who convinced players to lose on purpose. He also linked Bray to crypto groups led by Cooker. 

Bray denied the claims, saying, ‘I did not do anything. I am not a part of any of this. Stop posting about me.�Cooker also posted on X, ‘I can assure you I do not involve myself with any rigging or anything of that nature.�/p>

Leo Faria, Riot’s Global Head of Valorant Esports, said they take these accusations seriously. Riot began collecting details in early May and works with partners IBIA and Sportradar to verify the facts.

Faria added that Riot needs clear proof before taking action. He urged players and fans to report suspicious behaviour directly to Riot or league officials. Riot also warned people not to get involved in cheating.

After the claims, FlyQuest RED benched player Bob Tran until the investigation ended. The team said they want to keep the match fair and will use a substitute player for now.
