After the opening T20I in Wellington, the two sides will travel to Auckland to play the remaining two games to be hosted at Eden Park on February 23 and 25.

The upcoming three-match T20I series between the two finalists of T20 World Cup 2021 is now part of the Chappell-Hadlee trophy as per the latest development.

Earlier, the Chappell-Hadlee trophy was awarded to the winner of the bilateral ODI series between Australia and New Zealand.

Now, the T20Is between the trans-Tasman rivals have been added to the series and a point structure will be made for both T20I and ODI series to determine the winner.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand national cricket team has announced their 14-man T20I squad to be led by Mitchell Santner.

Star pacer Trent Boult has returned to the T20I squad for the first time since November 2022. Boult has been added for the second and third T20Is. He will replace veteran fast bowler Tim Southee, who will play only the first T20I in order to manage his workload.

Uncapped all-rounder Josh Clarkson has also been included in the T20I squad.

The Kiwis will miss the services of former captain Kane Williamson, who is on paternity leave. The hosts will also be without Daryl Mitchell due to injury.

On the other hand, the Australia national cricket team will head into the series after registering a 2-1 win over West Indies in the recently-concluded three-match T20I series at home.

Ranked fourth in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, Australia will be led by star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.

The likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith, Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood have returned to the squad after being rested in the T20I series against West Indies. Fast bowler Nathan Ellis has also been added after he recovered from a rib injury.

New Zealand, on the other hand, are ranked second in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings and they will head into this contest after a 4-1 triumph over Pakistan in their previous T20 series.

Since the inception of the Chappell-Hadlee trophy in December 2004, Australia have clinched it on seven occasions while New Zealand have won it four times.

New South Wales will take on defending champions Western Australia in the final of the Marsh One-Day Cup at the Bankstown Oval in Sydney on Sunday, April 11.

The Blues have remained unbeaten in the ongoing edition of the Australia Domestic One Day Cup, winning four of the five matches in the group stage. One match ended in a no result.

On the other hand, Western Australia finished second in the group stage, having won three of the five matches. The Mitchell Marsh-led side had suffered defeat against Queensland while one of the matches was abandoned due to rain.

New South Wales will be without Steve Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Moises Henriques, Adam Zampa and Daniel Sams, who all have joined their respective franchises in the Indian T20 League.

However, Kurtis Patterson’s side has received a massive boost ahead of the Australia Domestic One Day final as their star pacer Sean Abbott looks set to return to action from a hand injury. Furthermore, Sydney Thunder spin sensation Tanveer Sangha, who is uncapped at List A level, has been included in the squad.

For Western Australia, veteran batsman Shaun Marsh will miss Sunday's Marsh One-Day Cup Final due to a family illness. The 37-year-old had also pulled out of Thursday's encounter against Tasmania and he didn't join his team-mates on their flight to Sydney on Friday morning.

New South Wales vs Western Australia full squads

New South Wales squad: Kurtis Patterson (captain), Sean Abbott, Oliver Davies, Ben Dwarshuis, Jack Edwards, Matthew Gilkes (wicket-keeper), Liam Hatcher, Josh Hazlewood, Daniel Hughes, Nick Larkin, Nathan Lyon, Jason Sangha, Tanveer Sangha, Mitchell Starc

Western Australia squad: Mitchell Marsh (captain), Ashton Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Cameron Green, Liam Guthrie, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis (wicket-keeper), David Moody, Lance Morris, Josh Philippe, D’Arcy Short, Ashton Turner, Sam Whiteman

There will be no live telecast or live streaming of the New South Wales vs Western Australia Domestic One-Day Cup final in India. Live scores, however, will be available on SportsAdda.

The Marsh Cup 2021 final is scheduled to start at 5:00 AM IST on Sunday, April 11.

Mitchell Marsh has pulled out of Indian T20 League 2021 due to his inability to cope with the bio-secure bubble protocols.

The Australian all-rounder, who was retained by Team Hyderabad ahead of the auctions in February, had reportedly informed his decision to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well as his employers a few days ago.

Marsh had featured just once in the 2020 Indian T20 League edition for David Warner and Co, which was Hyderabad’s very first game against Bangalore, before an ankle injury ended his season. He was consequently replaced by Jason Holder.

As per the latest biosecurity protocols, Marsh would have had to undergo a seven-day isolation in addition to living in a restricted ecosystem throughout the 50-day tournament.

The 29-year-old has since featured in the Big Bash League 2020-21 season, where he registered 315 runs and six wickets, while recently taking part in the T20I series against New Zealand - piling up 67 runs and three wickets across five games.

Marsh has played just 21 games in the Indian T20 League, across spells with three teams including the defunct Pune. His record thus reads as 225 runs and 20 wickets.

Hyderabad have roped in an English batsman Jason Roy as a replacement for the Australian all-rounder. The 2016 winners will begin their 2021 edition against Kolkata on Sunday, April 11 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The Indian T20 League, since its inaugural edition in 2008, has been a breeding ground for young talents. Year after year, the lucrative T20 extravaganza has seen the passage of some of the top cricketing talents not just from the country, but across the globe.

Despite having its rule stated that a team can only field four foreign players in the starting XI, the scouting network has been such that at times, a gem has been unearthed. The league has provided a grand platform to the budding cricketers, and today, we take a look at five players who got their international call (in the T20I squad) due to the Indian T20 League.

Shaun Marsh

Shaun Marsh was not a name well known before the inaugural season of the Indian T20 League but following that first season with Punjab, he was definitely a talking point among cricket aficionados. In just 11 matches, Marsh racked up 616 runs as Punjab made it to the semi-finals. The Australian national team soon called and he was part of their tour of West Indies in 2008, where he reproduced his Indian T20 League form with a Man of the Match-worthy 81 runs on debut while his side won by 84 runs.

Glenn Maxwell

Thanks to his impressive showings in the Emerging Players Contest the year prior, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was picked by Delhi to make his Indian T20 League debut in 2012, coming on as a replacement for Travis Birt, who had withdrawn from the squad. That same year, Australia Head Selector John Inverarity picked Maxwell for the UAE tour, calling him ‘a versatile and lively off-spinning allrounder and brilliant fieldsman After making his ODI debut against Afghanistan, he played a key role in winning two matches against Pakistan, and was subsequently picked for the 2012 ICC World T20 Cup squad as well.

Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh made his Indian T20 League debut in 2010 for Team Deccan before heading over to Pune following year. It was also when he got the call-up to represent Australia’s T20I and ODI squads in their tour of South Africa. After Australia won the first of T20I match in Cape Town, Marsh got to debut in their second match in Johannesburg with a 21-ball 36. Australia ended up losing and drawing the series but they won the ODI leg, where Marsh made the crucial contribution of Hashim Amla's wicket in the second ODI.

Murali Vijay

While Murali Vijay was already being considered for India’s Test and ODI teams since 2008, popular opinion was that his laconic style would not suit the T20 format too well. He put those assumptions to rest when he became a regular fixture for Chennai in the Indian T20 League, scoring 458 runs that year at a strike rate of 156.84, surpassing even Matthew Hayden. With an injury putting Virender Sehwag out of action for the ICC World T20 2010, Vijay, thanks to his Indian T20 League heroics, was deemed the perfect replacement, beating out Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey.

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav a potent pacer who Team India had been seeking and while he didn’t overly impress during his stint with Delhi during the 2010 Indian T20 League season, it was his raw pace and his penchant for keeping the batsmen guessing that endeared him to India’s selectors. Thus, it followed that when Praveen Kumar got injured during that year’s World T20, Yadav got the call to fly to the Caribbean, eventually making his ODI debut during the Zimbabwe tour.

Hyderabad didn’t waste much time to replace Mitchell Marsh after the Australian all-rounder was ruled out of action due to an ankle injury, which he suffered in the team’s first match of the Indian T20 League 2020 season against Bangalore.

However, his replacement Jason Holder West IndiesTest captain isn’t just joining the squad to make up the numbers. Holder has previously represented Chennai, Kolkata and Indian T20 League 2020 will be the second time that he will be joining HYD.

And while his earlier stints in the Indian T20 League didn’t exactly set the league ablaze, there is evidence to suggest that a more mature and rounded Holder is capable of having more of an impact on his team’s fortunes in this season than any of the past editions.

More experienced and with a better of idea of the pressure and what to expect in the Indian T20 League now, Holder will back himself to make telling contributions with both bat and the ball. Whether or not his efforts will be enough to fill the void in the squad left by Marsh remains to be seen but a closer look at both playersT20 records suggests that there’s not much to separate the two of them.

While Holder’s 91 T20 wickets are far better than Marsh’s 49 scalps on the bowling front, the Australian boasts a better average (28.25) and strike rate (19.8) with the ball in hand. Holder, who bowls at an average of 33.01 and with a strike rate of 25.8, has a better economy rate (7.67) than Marsh’s (8.51) in T20s.

Marsh (30.5) also gets the better of Holder (14.16) in terms of batting average in T20s, but it’s the latter who shades the former when it comes to striking with the willow in hand. Holder’s batting strike rate of 128.76 is slightly better than Marsh’s 124.25.

Holder’s Indian T20 League record of five wickets and 38 runs from 11 matches may not make for kind reading, but the West Indies Test captain is a completely different player now. He has grown as a cricketer in all formats since his last Indian T20 League in 2016 and will be eager to contribute to the team.

The 28-year-old all-rounder from Barbados will take heart from his performances in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Holder enjoyed his best-ever performances with the bat in CPL 2020 with 192 runs at an average of 21.3 and a strike rate of 140.2 to show for his effort.

His best of 69 against Jamaica Tallawahs in CPL 2020 was a Man of the Match effort, and in total, he struck 15 fours and 12 sixes in the tournament, demonstrating his development into a fine all-rounder.

That said, most will argue that his strength lies with the ball and his numbers in last month’s CPL back it up. Holder took 10 wickets in as many CPL 2020 innings at a commendable average of 21.9, an economy rate of 6.6 and a strike rate of 19.8.

Needless to say, if Holder can replicate any of the aforementioned numbers in the Indian T20 League for Hyderabad, he will be a hit for the franchise. Given the fact that he hasn’t always covered himself in glory in his past Indian T20 Leagues as well as his coming of age as West Indies skipper in recent times, the ongoing season could well be the campaign when Holder showed the rest of the world the extent of his potential in franchise T20's grandest extravaganza.

Caribbean all-rounders come at a premium in T20 cricket and with some good performances to back him up, there’s no reason why Holder can’t be bracketed with his more celebrated and feared T20 compatriots like Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo.

Hyderabad player Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2020 after suffering an injury in their first match of the season against Bangalore. Marsh hurt his right ankle against Bangalore and will be replaced by West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder.

Skipper David Warner had earlier mentioned that he wasn’t sure if Marsh could compete in any games in the ongoing Indian T20 League after suffering the injury.

"It seems a serious injury. I am not sure if he will be able to compete in any of the matches," Warner was quoted by PTI.

After being asked to bowl in the fifth over against Bangalore, Marsh managed to bowl just four deliveries before succumbing to the injury. Despite being injured, he showed his courage by walking out to bat while being in obvious discomfort.

“Losing Mitch early, hopefully, he's okay, it doesn't look great. A lot of courage from him to walk out there and try his best, but it was unfortunate tonight,Warner had told Star Sports after the game. “He's got to get an X-ray, hopefully, it's not too bad. It doesn't look great. Obviously, what you saw out there, it was quite painful, he can't put any weight on it. Fingers crossed."

Unfortunately for Warner, Marsh’s X-ray didn’t give the Hyderabad skipper the diagnosis that he wanted. Marsh will be returning home early from the Indian T20 League for the second time in the last five years due to injury after a knock to the shoulder ruled him out for the entirety of the tournament in 2017 when he was representing Rising Pune Supergiants.

The Australian all-rounder was brought by the Hyderabad for a base price of   crore last December. He would have been a certified starter for Hyderabad on the fresh pitches and conditions that favours fast bowling in the first part of the Indian T20 League in UAE.

The Hyderabadsole Indian T20 League success came in 2016 but they have struggled to put their best foot forward ever since, with an overdependence on their top order, which features Warner, Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson.

Hyderabad all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has reportedly been ruled out of the 2020 Indian T20 League season following an ankle injury that he suffered while bowling his first over against Bangalore on Monday turning out to be 'serious'.

Speaking to PTI, a team source said, "It seems a serious injury. I am not sure if he will be able to compete in any of the matches."

Marsh was put to bowl in the fifth over and suffered his injury after four deliveries while trying to halt a drive by Aaron Finch.

However, Marsh not only saw out his over but the right-handed batsman also came out to bat at No. 10 for Hyderabad, his discomfort clearly evident as he struggled to even stand properly and was dismissed on the very first ball.

It's the latest in a long line of injuries suffered by Marsh during his career.

Providing an injury update and also heaping praise on his teammate for coming out to bat in spite of the injury, Hyderabad skipper David Warner told Star Sports, "Losing Mitch early, hopefully, he's okay, it doesn't look great. A lot of courage from him to walk out there and try his best, but it was unfortunate tonight.

"He's got to get an X-ray, hopefully, it's not too bad. It doesn't look great. Obviously, what you saw out there, it was quite painful, he can't put any weight on it. Fingers crossed."

Hyderabad eventually ended up with a 10-run loss against Bangalore in their first Indian T20 League match of the season, and Marsh's injury will only serve to compound their woes as they head into their next fixture, against Kolkata on Saturday, September 26 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
