Jason Roy and Jofra Archer have each been fined 15 percent of their match fees for incidents during England's World Cup defeat by Pakistan at Trent Bridge.

The International Cricket Council found opener Roy had breached level one of its code of conduct, using an audible obscenity after a misfield during Pakistan's innings.

Fast bowler Archer was found guilty of dissent towards an umpire's decision following a wide delivery.

Both players have also had one demerit point added to their records.

Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was fined 20 percent of his fee, and his teammates 10 percent, for a minor over-rate offence.

Pakistan won Monday's match by 14 runs after setting England a target of 349.

It was an occasionally fractious encounter, with the umpires warning England skipper Eoin Morgan about his side throwing the ball in on the bounce and later issuing the same reminder to Sarfaraz.

The tactic is often used to scuff up the ball and promote reverse swing.

England batsman Jos Buttler appeared to take a look at the ball on his walk back to the pavilion after his knock of 103 came to an end.

Morgan said: "There were discussions throughout the whole of the two innings. The umpires came to me mid-innings and seemed to think that we were throwing the ball in on the bounce too much or it was being over-exaggerated.

"They emphasised it would be the same for both. The conversations that were stopping the game were that Pakistan were doing the same thing.

"Jos was just intrigued to see the ball. When the ball is hit against the LED boards it does scuff it up quite a lot so he was just interested to see if the ball was more scuffed up."

Pakistan once again proved why they are the most unpredictable side in the history of the game when they followed up a dreadful performance against the West Indies in their tournament opener to bounce back and post a competitve 348/8 against England at Trent Bridge on Monday (June 3).

Unlike their previous outing, their openers ?Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman ?put on an opening partnership of 82 runs, providing a stage for the lower order to showcase their might. By the end of the first powerplay, the openers had posted 69 on board before Fakhar lost himself to a brilliant stumping by Jos Buttler off Moeen Ali’s delivery.

Imam soon followed the suit and fell a victim to Ali. Stepping out of his crease, the left-hander sent the ball towards long off, but couldn't generate the power he would have wished, losing his wicket to Chris Woakes' brilliant catch.

At 111/2, the likes of Mohammad Hafeez and Babar Azam decided to take the matter in to their own hands. England, on their part, had a chance to break the alliance, but a dropped catch by Jason Roy meant Hafeez was given a crucial lifeline.

The 38-year-old duly capitalised and went on to score 84 off 62 balls. Azam, on the other hand, posted 63 before losing his wicket to Ali in the 33rd over. On came, captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed and alongwith Hafeez, he stretched Pakistan’s score from 199/3 to 279 before Mark Wood dissmed the latter.

Wood’s second victim came in the form of Asif Ali. Sarfaraz soon followed suit after a missed timed shot was caught by Woakes.

As far as bowling was concerned, Adil Rashid and Jofra Archer leaked runs the most. Both the bowlers went without a wicket and ended with the economy of 8.60 and 7.90 respectively. Woakes, on the other hand, gave away 71 runs in eight overs, but also had three wickets to show for.

Pakistan ended their innings with a four to set a daunting target of 349 for England, which would be a record chase at the World Cup if the Three Lions can manage to reach there.

Pakistan shocked England by 14 runs at Trent Bridge on Monday as they ended a long losing streak in one-day internationals despite two centuries for the World Cup host nation. Joe Root (107) and Jos Buttler (103) were guiding the tournament favourites towards an imposing target of 349 after Pakistan left England needing a World Cup record chase.

The pair put on 130 for the fifth wicket but both were out shortly after reaching their hundreds and the tail had too much to do.

It was a remarkable turnaround for Pakistan, whose opening match of this World Cup had seen then slump to 105 all out in a seven-wicket defeat by the West Indies at the same ground. That defeat was their 11th straight loss in completed one-day internationals, including the recent 4-0 series defeat by England.

But they started strongly at Trent Bridge on Monday and made 348 for eight, Mohammad Hafeez top-scoring with 84. No side had previously made more batting second to win a World Cup match than Ireland, with 329 for seven against England at Bangalore in 2011.

England's chase got off to a bad start when Jason Roy was lbw on the sweep to leg-spinner Shadab Khan to leave them 12 for one.

Jonny Bairstow, whose opening partnership with Roy has been a key factor in England's rise to number one in the one-day international rankings, then fell for 32 when he was caught behind off Wahab Riaz.

It was the spinners who struck next, England captain Eoin Morgan (nine) bowled by Mohammad Hafeez before Pakistan captain and wicket-keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed held an edged cut by all-rounder Ben Stokes (13) off Shoaib Malik.

But Buttler and Root both hit towering sixes off Hafeez as England accelerated on a pitch where they had twice set the world record for the highest ODI total. Buttler completed a typically dashing fifty off 34 balls when he pulled Shadab for six as England, who only last month chased down a target of 341 to beat Pakistan in the fourth ODI at Trent Bridge, started to take charge.

Root pulled Hasan Ali for four to go to 97 before his quick single off Riaz saw him to a 15th ODI century in 97 balls, with nine fours and a six. But he fell soon afterwards, steering Shadab to Hafeez at short third man to end a stand of 130 with Buttler.

Wicketkeeper Buttler, one delivery after completing a 75-ball century, was also caught at short third man when he guided Mohammad Amir to fellow left-arm quick Riaz. Chris Woakes (21) kept England in the hunt before he was caught behind off Riaz and, at 320 for eight a target of 29 off 12 balls proved too much.

Earlier, Hafeez led a vastly improved Pakistan batting effort that saw Babar Azam (63) and Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (55) also making fifties. Pakistan were undone by a barrage of bouncers against the West Indies and England deployed similar tactics after Morgan won the toss, with their attack featuring recalled fast bowler Mark Wood.

But Pakistan coped and for all the talk about England's quicks, it was off-spinner Moeen who took the first three wickets.

England, who launched their World Cup campaign with a 104-run thrashing of South Africa, were surprisingly sloppy in the field, while their fast bowlers were expensive -- Jofra Archer's 10 wicketless overs cost 79 runs.

Pakistan attacked from the start, with openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq sharing a stand of 82. Babar completed a run-a-ball fifty while Hafeez pressed on after being dropped on 14 when Roy floored a sitter at mid-off.

Let’s just start with a distinctive stat, shall we? England, since 2016, have played 20 matches at home; have won 17 of them, tied one and have been at the end of no-result twice. A fortress well preserved.

Well, not anymore.

Pakistan, who arrived at Nottingham on the back of 11 straight ODI defeats, once again determined why they remain little fazed about the results of yesterdays. For England, there were many milestones to take note of. For the starters, they have now scored 300+ total on six consecutive occasions. Joint most by any side in a calendar year. Furthermore, Joe Root became the first player to score a ton at this World Cup. So many positives, yet the deities decided to end up being in Pakistan’s favour.

This victory for Sarfaraz Ahmed and his men, however, was never about being lucky. It was about the grit they showcased at a time when it mattered the most. Put in to bat first by the English captain, Eoin Morgan, the thought of defending even a grandest of total at a venue like Trent Bridge was always going to be as laborious as one can think. But well, that’s Pakistan for you.

The sweetest revenge, as we speak, remains the fact that Pakistan actually ended their losing streak against the favourites themselves. Posting 348 on board, it was Sarfaraz’s masterclass to actually open the bowling with Shadab Khan that sowed the seeds of an English collapse. “We started with Shadab today because we know they're not good batsmen against spin - Roy and Bairstow,?said the Pakistan captain in his post-match interview.

And the spinner duly returned the faith in the best way possible, ending his tally with 63/2 in 10 overs.

As for the batting, the hammering done by the Windies bowling attack through their short-pitch approach was still hurting Pakistan in a way. And England, on their part, loomed with a similar tactic by instilling Mark Wood into the line-up. But as it seemed, Pakistan were well equipped for what England were to throw. And of all people, it was Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes who leaked most runs.

From here on in the competition, for Pakistan, it's all about maintaining the equilibrium. They just cannot afford to take their foot off the gas. They need to match their batting to that of their bowling excellence just as they did against England. On paper, Pakistan’s middle order remains their utmost frailty on paper. But that wasn’t really the case against England. Their innings was rather built on a strong middle-order display.

Furthermore, this victory is also a testament to why the Pakistani selectors were adamant on including Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz in their World Cup-bound squad. On a ground as small as at in Trent Bridge, it was this duo’s experience that helped Pakistan maintain a strong hold the English batting. As of now, this Pakistan team have announced themselves in the best way possible, and who knows what lies in store for them for the rest of the tournament.

Until then, it is their day to celebrate.
