Some excellent game awareness from Surender Gill in the dying moments ensured U.P. Yoddha clinch a narrow one-point victory and register their first win of Pro Kabaddi Season 8.

With the game interestingly poised at 35-34 in favour of U.P. Yoddha with just one second left in the game, Surender Gill scored a bonus off the final raid and surrendered himself as Patna Pirates were left in anguish. Gill's heroics helped U.P. Yoddha maintain the lead and win the match 36-35.

Earlier, star raider Pardeep Narwal playing his first match against his former side started off with a bang although he was unable to score freely as Patna Pirates' defense managed to pin him down on multiple occasions. Pardeep though managed to end the match with 12 points in his kitty.

India beat Namibia by nine wickets to end their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 journey on a high. After having decided to bowl first, India restricted Namibia to just 132/8 with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja causing the damage. The two spinners combined for six wickets (three wickets each) while conceding just 36 runs.

Meanwhile, it was another forgetful night for Mohammed Shami as he went wicketless and conceded 39 runs in his four overs. Apart from Shami and Rahul Chahar, none of the bowlers conceded runs in access of five runs per over. David Wiese, with 26 runs, was the top scorer for Namibia while Stephan Baard scored 21.

India started the second innings on the front foot, with the openers combining for 54 runs in the powerplay overs. Rohit Sharma scored the half-century in 31 deliveries and KL Rahul followed suit after the 34-year-old was dismissed. The win ended India's run at the T20 World Cup 2021 as they finish third in Super 12 Group 2, after leaders Pakistan and second-placed New Zealand.

"As a bowler, I did enjoy bowling today," said tonight's Man of the Match, Ravindra Jadeja.

"The ball was dry so I enjoyed bowling with a dry ball. Some balls were turning, some were going straight, so that's also a trick, the batsman has to keep on guessing. (on Ashwin) I'm enjoying bowling with him, I've been playing with him since 10 years. He's doing wonderfully with the white ball, did it in IPL also. Virat has been wonderful with the captaincy, and I've played with him for 10-12 years too.

"I always enjoyed his captaincy. He's positive and aggressive that's what you want as a player. (On the departing support staff) They have done a great job as supporting staff for 7-8 years and we've enjoyed being with them."

The next assignment for India is New Zealand's visit for three T20Is and two Tests. The series starts on November 17 with the first T20I scheduled to be played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Take a look at how the match panned out.

India end T20 World Cup 2021 journey with a win

And that's the winning run. India have defeated Namibia by nine wickets to end their T20 World Cup 2021 journey with a win.

Openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma both scored half-century while Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 25 runs off just 19 balls.

Brief scores:

Namibia: 132/8

David Weise: 26 runs off 25 balls

Stephan Baard: 21 runs off 21 balls

Ravindra Jadeja: 3/16

Ravichandran Ashwin: 3/20

-------------------------------------------------------------

India: 136/1

KL Rahul: 54 runs off 36 balls

Rohit Sharma: 56 runs off 37 balls

Jan Frylinck: 1/19

India edging closer to victory

India are inching towards victory after every passing over. They have lost a solitary wicket so far and KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav have built a stable partnership since.

India: 122/1 after 14 overs.

WICKET! Rohit Sharma departs

Big wicket for Namibia as Rohit Sharma departs after scoring 56 off just 37 balls. Jan Frylinck the bowler who gives his team an important breakthrough.

The Indian opener loops a mistimed shot high in the air and keeper Zane Green takes the catch with ease.

India: 87/1 after 10 overs.

Half century for Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma completes his half-century in 31 deliveries. That's his second fifty in the tournament and 24th in Twenty20 internationals.

Beautiful innings from the hitman.

India: 70/0 after eight overs.

End of powerplay overs

That's the end of powerplay overs and India are on a roll. The two openers have put 54 runs on the board with Rohit Sharma scoring 39 off 24 balls while Rahul accumulating 15 off 12 deliveries.

India: 54/0 after six overs

Another milestone for Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has just completed 3000 runs in T20 internationals, becoming only the third player to reach the milestone. This is where he stands:

1. 3227 - Virat Kohli

2. 3115 - Martin Guptill

3. 3000 - Rohit Sharma*

4. 2603 - Aaron Finch

Rohit Sharma survives

Rohit Sharma has the luck of gold! The Indian opener survives as Van Lingen drops his catch at short fine. India could have lost an early wicket but Rohit Sharma has survived.

The result is usual. He has hit a boundary and a six since.

India: 17/0 after two overs.

That's it for Namibia!

A beautiful final over for Namibia as 13 runs came off it. The minnows of T20 World Cup 2021 have put 132/8 in 20 overs against might India.

A beautiful display by the Indian spinners and Namibia had moments of magic too, especially in the final over against Mohammed Shami.

Namibia: 132/8 after 20 overs

WICKET! Second wicket for Jasprit Bumrah

David Wiese departs after scoring 26 important runs for Namibia. The 36-year-old falls to the excellence of Jasprit Bumrah after hitting a poorly timed shot. Wiese took a few steps to come out of the crease but loops his shot high in the air. Rohit Sharma comes underneath the ball and takes a simple catch.

Namibia: 119/8 after 19 overs

India chased down Scotland's target of 86 in 6.3 overs to register an emphatic 8-wicket win in their penultimate Super 12 match of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021.

Led by KL Rahul 50 (19) and Rohit Sharma's 30 (16) India put on a 70-run opening partnership to make light work of the Scottish bowlers.

In the process, India reached six points from four matches and improved their net run-rate to +1.619, the best amongst all teams in Group 2. They will now hope that Afghanistan beats New Zealand on Sunday to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Earlier in the evening, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami bagged three wickets each to skittle Scotland for a below-par total of 85.

Here's how the match unfolded.

India defeated Afghanistan by 66 runs to register their first win of the ICC men's T20 World Cup 2021. The Men in Blue were put in to bat by the Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi, and the team got off to a brilliant start, with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma playing a 140-run stand. Hardik Pandya (35 runs off 15 balls) and Rishabh Pant (27 off 13) did the rest as India put 210/2 on board.

"We wanted to get off to a good start which didn't happen in the first two games," Rohit Sharma said after the match.

"There was a conscious effort to lay a good platform for the other batters to express themselves later. Exceptional batting from KL as well. Looking at the trend, they've batted first in all their games. We were looking to field first, but it was a good pitch to bat on. A good start and a respectable total were very important from our side.

"We knew run rate could come into play and we wanted to win by a good margin, glad that we did that. Whatever the team requires, I'll try to do that. Today the need was for a quick start, normally I try to assess early on but today I had to play a bit differently," he added.

Afghanistan started their innings on the front foot, but Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah gave their team a breakthrough in the first four overs. The Afghans were hitting every now and then but were losing wickets at regular intervals.

"We wanted to bat second because of the dew, and the wicket looked really good for batting," said Mohammad Nabi after the match. "In the end there wasn't that much dew, but India batted really well on this pitch and put our bowlers under pressure. We didn't rotate strike well in the middle, and we threw away our wickets and got under pressure."

A win for India has pushed them up to the fourth spot in Group 2 of Super 12. Their next assignment is against Scotland before they play Namibia in the final group stage match. Victories in both of these matches won't warrant them a place in the semi-final as their fate is in New Zealand's hands. The Kiwis face Namibia and Afghanistan in their remaining group stage matches and only a defeat in one of those fixtures will give India a hope.

And that's that! India win their first match of T20 World Cup 2021

India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs, courtesy of a brilliant batting display from the openers followed by an equally apt performance from the bowling attack.

That, however, is one step as India are still dependent on New Zealand's remaining matches. If the Kiwis win against Namibia and Afghanistan, India will have to head back home.

Brief scores:

India: 201/2

Rohit Sharma - 74 (47)

KL Rahul - 69 (48)

Afghanistan: 144/7

Karim Janat - 42 (22)

Mohammad Nabi - 35 (32)

WICKET! Shami strikes... twice

Mohammad Nabi and Karim Janat were building a beautiful partnership but Mohammed Shami has delivered a blow. The Afghanistan captain hits an aerial shot towards deep midwicket, but lack of power means the ball lands right in Ravindra Jadeja's safe hands.

Could have been two wickets in two, but replays show the ball hit the ground. Would have been a special catch there from Jadeja.

Never mind the replay as Rashid Khan is dismissed in the very next delivery. This time it's Hardik Pandya who takes the catch.

Afghanistan: 139 after 19 overs.

WICKET! Ashwin is unplayable tonight

Ravichandran Ashwin picks another and this time it's Najibullah Zadran. The middle-order batter went for a reserve sweep, but the ball turned and hit the stump. A poor shot selection from the 28-year-old and India are cruising towards their first victory of ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Afghanistan: 70/5 after 12 overs.

WICKET! Another one gone

Ravichandran Ashwin picks his first wicket of ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Gulbadin Naib goes for a sweep but missed the line entirely as the ball clips his pad. He thought of taking a review but the ball is clearly hitting the stumps.

Afghanistan are in big trouble now. They are already four wickets down and the asking rate is above 15.

Afghanistan: 61/4 after 10 overs.

WICKET! Breakthrough for India

Ravindra Jadeja breaks the dangerous partnership and Rahmanullah has to walk back. The top-order batsman went for a big hit, but the shot lacked power. Hardik Pandya takes a tricky catch at wide long-on right beside the rope.

Brilliant over from the Indian all-rounder.

Afghanistan: 49/3 after seven overs.

Gulbadin and Rahmanullah steadying the ship

Gulbadin Naib and Rahmanullah Gurbaz are playing beautifully there. The two batsmen have combined for 34 runs in just 17 balls already.

It all started in the fifth over when Shami conceded 21 runs before Hardik Pandya went for nine runs. And that's the end of the powerplay overs.

Afghanistan: 47/2 after six overs.

Trouble for Afghanistan!

Big blow for the Afghans. The team has lost both of their openers within the first four overs. Mohammed Shami first got the better of Mohammad Shahzad before Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Hazratullah Zazai. The two batsmen combined for just 13 runs.

Afghanistan: 17/2 after four overs.

Afghanistan begin run-chase with five runs off first over

With the required run rate at 10.55, Afghanistan get off the mark with five runs off the first over bowled by India's Mohammed Shami,

India, who have struggled to grab wickets with pace bowlers, look optimistic about their performance in tonight's fixture after a confident show with the bat.

AFG, meanwhile, will hope Mohammad Shahzad can hit top form in the powerplay overs.

Afghanistan 5/0 after 1 over

16 runs off the final over for India! Afghanistan to chase 211

After losing the toss and being put to bat first, it seemed as the script would continue for India's ongoing troubles in the T20 World Cup.

However, a 140-run partnership and half-tons for KL Rahul (69) and Rohit Sharma (74) see the Men in Blue register a score of 210/2 in 20 overs.

Not only is this the highest total in the T20 World Cup 2021, but India record their second-highest score for India in the competition.

Can Afghanistan play with the vigour they had against Scotland, or will they let their nerves get the better of them? Stay tuned to SportsAdda for coverage of the second half of the #INDvAFG match.

The Indian cricket team's ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 campaign is now in jeopardy as New Zealand sealed a convincing eight-wicket win in the Group 2 clash at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, October 31.

The Virat Kohli-led Men in Blue, put to bat first, were reduced to 110/7 in their allotted 20 overs with Trent Boult (3/20) and Ish Sodhi (2/17) leading the charge for the Black Caps.

The New Zealand cricket team, on their part, kept their composure to complete their run chase within 15 overs. Following the win, the Kiwis go third with a net run rate of +0.765. India, on the flip side, needs to win their remaining three fixtures by a massive margin to keep their faint qualification hopes alive.

That's it from us here at SportsAdda! Goodbye and goodnight.

And..... that's a wrap! NZ beat IND by eight wickets

India are now a fish in troubled waters having lost their second straight game in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021.

Having to defend 111 runs on the board, the Indian bowlers didn't effect any pressure on the New Zealand batters - especially Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson. The Black Caps, on their part, were outstanding with the bat and ball to make the best use of the conditions at Dubai.

The Kiwis extend their unbeaten run against the Men in Blue at the ICC events.

100 up for New Zealand! And nine runs away from a clinical win

Kane Williamson's New Zealand are on the verge of a convincing victory over tournament favourites India.

The Kiwi skipper lobs a Hardik Pandya delivery over wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to bring up 100 runs for his side.

A masterclass performance from the Hurri-Kane.

New Zealand 102 after 13.4 overs.

OUT! Daryl Mitchell misses out on maiden T20I half-ton

So close yet so far for Daryl Mitchell, who gets dismissed on 49 after guiding New Zealand almost to the finish line.

The opener lifts a Jasprit Bumrah delivery towards long on for a maximum, but it falls short with KL Rahul taking an easy catch.

New Zealand 96/2 after 12.4 overs.

10 overs to go! Can Black Caps wrap up win in style?

After 10 overs, India were 48/3 while New Zealand are batting at 83/1.

Not the Halloween special India fans were expecting.

Mitchell's sixer brings up FIFTY for NZ!

Daryl Mitchell smashes Mohammed Shami's length-ball delivery over mid-wicket for a maximum, to take New Zealand past 50.

The Black Caps are in command of the run chase, with the situation now reading as 56 runs needed in 78 balls.

New Zealand 54/1 after 6.5 overs.

End of Powerplay overs! Kiwis' run chase on smooth track

The introduction of Ravindra Jadeja came at a heavy cost as the all-rounder was hammered for 14 runs in the final over of the mandatory Powerplay phase.

New Zealand finish the Powerplay overs at 44/1, where India could muster 35/2.

Clock ticking for Virat Kohli to deploy a game-changing tactic.

OUT! India draw the first blood

Martin Guptill, expected to guide New Zealand to a strong total in the Powerplay overs, walks back to the pavilion.

After being hammered for a boundary, Jasprit Bumrah bowls a slower length delivery which Guptill attempted to lift for a maximum. However, his miscued timing saw the ball fly high towards Shardul Thakur at mid-on.

After almost popping out of his hands, Thakur safely completes the catch to put a smile on Bumrah's face.

New Zealand 26/1 after 3.4 overs

Bumrah begins spell on an outstanding note

Jasprit Bumrah, India's front line bowler in T20Is, concedes just one run in his opening over to apply some pressure on New Zealand.

The Men in Blue need such spells to put New Zealand slightly on the back foot, but a certain Martin Guptill might prove to be a party pooper.

New Zealand 6/0 after 2 overs.

Pakistan began their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 campaign in a scintillating fashion as they beat India by 10 wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 24.

Put to bat first, India were reeling at 31/3 after losing Rohit Sharma (0), KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav in the first six overs. However, Virat Kohli (57) and Rishabh Pant (39) helped the Men in Blue post 151/7 in their 20 overs.

While Shaheen Afridi (3/31) laid the foundation for a potential Pakistan victory, skipper Babar Azam (68) and Mohammad Rizwan (78) sealed it in style as they outwitted the Indian bowlers.

This is the first time India have lost a World Cup game, 50-overs or T20, to Pakistan. Certainly an eye-opener.

That's it from us here at SportsAdda. Goodnight and goodbye!

A clinical win for Pakistan

After years of pain and angst, Pakistan finally claim their first-ever win against India in the T20 World Cup match, and just their second victory over their bitter rivals in cricket's shortest format.

Skipper Babar Azam (68) and Mohammad Rizwan (78) stitch a calm and confident partnership to secure a 10-wicket win in a T20I match for the first time in history.

What a start to the Shaheens' World Cup campaign.

Rizwan joins the party with FIFTY!

Mohammad Rizwan brings up his ninth T20I fifty at a much needed time to get Pakistan into an advantageous position against India.

Now Pakistan are in a situation where they need to score one-run per ball to win the fixture with ease.

Pakistan 116/0 after 14.2 overs

FIFTY for Azam!

After Virat Kohli, it is now Pakistan captain Babar Azam who brings up his half-century in the contest.

With four boundaries and two maximums along the way, Azam is keeping things calm and collected.

Can the PAK skipper keep the momentum going?

Pakistan 99/0 after 12.4 overs

End of Powerplay overs! Pakistan remain unscathed

With the current run rate at 7.16, Pakistan are taking a conservative approach in their run chase of 152.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami go for over nine runs in their two overs, with Virat Kohli bitting his nails to find a breakthrough formula.

Pakistan 43/0 after 6 overs
